Just Say Yes, Lord

Cindy deVille

Has God asked something of you? Perhaps to be or do something you just don’t think you can. Many times the things God asks of us are much bigger than we feel we could possibly do. We find a million reasons why we’re just not the right one for the task.

We say things like “I’m not smart enough,” “I’m not strong enough,” “I’m too young,” “I’m too old,” “I’m too short, too fat, too tall,” “I don’t speak well,” “I’m not pretty or poised,” “I’m too poor.” And the list goes on.

It’s time to put your reasons to rest. Although you may have a million reasons why you think you can’t be or do what God is asking of you, God has just one reason why you can, and that one reason is Christ in You, the Hope of Glory! (see Col. 1:27). Not only is He in you and with you, but also His Spirit is your helper, adviser and counselor. He is fighting for you and ever lives to make intercession for you and for His church (see Heb. 7:25).

If God is asking something of you, then you can be assured that He has and will give you everything you need to carry out His purposes. Philippians 2:13 tells us that it’s God working in you both to do of His good pleasure.

Even Moses has his reasons. In Exodus 4:10-13, we see that even Moses had his excuses and reasons—he was slow of speech and tried to disqualify himself, and even asked God to “Please, send someone else.” But God knew He had the right guy.

The children of Israel also had their reasons not to move forward and take possession of the land. They were limited because they looked at themselves rather than their God. They saw themselves as grasshoppers and forgot that God was with them and was bigger then any giant they would ever face.

Mary graciously received God’s Word. When the angel Gabriel visited Mary and told her that she would give birth to the Son of God, she did not stand and argue with the word of the Lord. She did question how, but then embraced and came into agreement with God. Her humble reply was, “I am the Lord’s servant, may it be to me as you have said” (see Luke 1:38).

If God has called you to do something, He has already qualified and gifted you for the task. I encourage you to graciously receive the call of God as Mary did, and respond with a resounding YES LORD!

My prayer for you is that our Father would help us as women to focus on the greater one who is with us and who lives inside us. We choose to focus on the one reason why we can do whatever He asks of us. We can focus on Christ and His unlimited ability within us.

PRAYER POWER WEEK OF 3/7/2011
This week ask the Lord to confirm what He is calling you to do and simply say, “Yes, Lord.” Thank Him that He has already given you everything you need to carry out His purpose and live a fulfilled life. Pray for an increase in sensitivity to His Spirit so that you would recognize the open doors and opportunities He gives you. Continue to pray for our military around the world. Pray for those suffering great losses and ask the Lord to show you how you can help share His love and provision with them. Pray that God will fulfill His purpose in the Middle East and that our churches would unite in fervent prayer for revival and the restoration of righteousness in our nation. Heb.7:25; Col. 1:27; Phil. 2:13
