Charge the rich in this world that they be not high-minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, He offering to us richly all things to enjoy, that they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to share, to be generous. (1 Timothy 6:17-18)
On 9 December 2010, Forbes reported social networking giant, Facebook Founder and President, Mark Zuckerberg announced his plan to give away the majority of his fortune to charity. “People wait until late in their career to give back. But why wait when there is so much to be done? With a generation of younger folks who have thrived on the success of their companies, there is a big opportunity for many of us to give back earlier in our
lifetime and see the impact of philanthropic efforts,” he said in a statement. It is God who gives us the power to get wealth (Deut. 8:18). And this wealth is not meant to be hoarded or spent selfishly but to be used to serve others and God’s purpose. In doing this we become agents of God’s divine providence to others and reap God’s eternal blessings.
