Day 30: Communicating Through Arts

And let them make Me a sanctuary, so that I may dwell among them. According to all that I show you, the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments of it, even so you shall make it. (Exodus 25:8-9)Let them praise His name in the dance; let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp. (Psalm 149:3)
The Arts is another means of communication which uses different modes of creative expression such as music, literature, film, theatre, photography, sculpture and paintings. It is used by individuals, cultures and religions to express and communicate their core beliefs and values. It is powerful because it touches the senses, moves the emotions and stirs the imagination. In the Bible, God Himself displayed His artistic inclination in the pattern and construction of the Tabernacle. Through it He illustrated truth for Israel to learn and remember. In worship, Israel used music and dance to express their devotion to God. History also teaches how the domain of arts used to belong to the Church. The Arts can be a powerful tool to communicate the Gospel and further the Great Commission. It is a language all cultures understand and respond to.
