Day 37: Single Parents

In His holy dwelling God is the father of the fatherless, and the judge of the widows. (Psalm 68:5)
Even with two parents, effective parenting can be a daunting task. Parenting alone can therefore be a nervewracking experience. Having to juggle career, home responsibilities and parenting can not only be physically exhausting but it can also be mentally and emotionally draining. The growing number of single parents need support and from others--families as well as singles. Usually siblings and relatives are of help but with families shrinking in size such support may be difficult to come by. The church can play an important role in alleviating the emotional and physical stress that single parents need to endure. The many families and single adults in the church must avail themselves to help. After all, the church is supposed to be another extended family.

Prayer Points:

  • Christians to be compassionate and supportive towards single parents
  • Christians to aid and assist single parents and their children who are without the assistance of their extended family
  • God’s grace and strength for all single parents who face the task of working as well as raising their children at the same time
  • God’s protection upon their children while they are away working.

Prayer Shield: for our elders, pastors and leaders
Leaders’ character: Teachable
