Day 34 (Friday 10 September) - Holy Desperation

by NECF Malaysia 40-Day Fast & Prayer on Friday, 10 September 2010 at 01:02

We need to be desperate in our prayers. In Isaiah 38, when King Hezekiah was struck with illness, a prophet was sent and he was told that he would die. In desperation, he turned his face to the wall and prayed and wept bitterly. God heard his prayer and healed him and added another 15 years to his life. In His mercy God delivered him and defended the city.

In response to fervent and desperate prayer, God may change the course of our lives and our nation. God's thoughts and ways are far higher than our thoughts and plans. In times like these when we cry out to Him, He will incline His ears to our cries. He is looking for humble and contrite hearts. We may even live to see His great deliverance of our nation. We will also have a legacy to pass on to the next generation. The heritage of our faith will be passed on to our children because we have stood in the gap and seen His deliverance over our lives and nation. In these crucial times, we are facing the strength of united intercession and the desperate cry from our hearts will indeed make a difference to impact our generation and the generations to come.

Reflection: Matt 5:3, Isa 38. When was the last time you were desperate for God and cried out to Him wholeheartedly? Tell the Lord and confess every trace of self sufficiency and ask Him to humble our hearts.

Prayer Points
■ His Holy Spirit to move the Body of Christ to a place of desperation. Insatiable thirst and longing for more of God. Restoration of first love and hunger for His Word.
■ Churches will be houses of prayer and thousands upon thousands of prayer cells in homes, offices, schools, colleges, government departments to be established.
■ Implore the Lord for holy desperation for souls in the lives of every believer to have His burden for the lost. They will be equipped and empowered to share the gospel, teach and disciple new believers to grow in the knowledge of Him.
■ Ask the Lord to break down barriers and strongholds that have kept the people in your community, town or city in spiritual darkness. Invite His Presence to touch and open hearts to the gospel.
